Norma Lyons, 91, of Cambridge, died Thursday (September 29, 2016). She was born May 4, 1925 in Carrollton, daughter of the late Walter R. Noakes and Agnes (Long) Noakes. Mrs. Lyons retired from the former Cambridge Healthcare Center, where she had been a dietician supervisor for many years. She had also worked as a cook at Lincoln School of Cambridge and as a telephone operator for the former GTE. She attended the 1st United Methodist Church of Cambridge. Family time was very important to her. She spent a lot of her time working side-by-side with her husband on various tasks and she loved gardening. Her grandkids were very dear to her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Herb" Lyons, who died July 9, 1996. They were married May 12, 1945. Also deceased is a brother, Paul Noakes. She is survived by three sons, Ted H. Lyons of Mt. Pleasant SC, Tim M. (& Jessie) Lyons of Pickerington, and Dale A. (& Lisa) Lyons of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Jody, Chris, Ashley, Kayla, Trish, and Chad; and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday (October 4, 2016) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
