Ola Gay E. Nelson

Ola Gay E. (Cooper) Nelson, 80, of Quaker City and formerly of Brunswick, entered through the pearly gates on Wednesday (July 20, 2016). She was born March 15, 1936 in Pea Patch VA, daughter of the late Wallace and Elzenia Cooper. Ola was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, quilting, working word search puzzles, and spending time in her flowerbeds. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. Ola never met a person she couldn't talk to. A lifelong servant of God and a member of the Salt Fork Baptist Church, Ola looked forward to the day she would meet Jesus. All her wishes and dreams finally came true. Although she will be missed by everyone who knew her, she is happily visiting with all her family and friends who went before her. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Rachel (Boyd) Cooper. She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Everette Nelson of the home; two daughters, Pamela Portnick of Quaker City and Roxanna (& Alan) Sielski of Bossier City LA; four grandchildren, Jackie (& John), Stephanie (& Bob), Kayla (& Josh), and Jared; three great-grandchildren, Tate, John John, and Braiden; and several brothers, sisters, and nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (July 26, 2016) at 12 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Brother Floyd Adkins officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
