Opal Pauline Gibson

Opal Pauline Gibson, 95, of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2022, in the loving care of Countryview Assisted Living and Hospice of Guernsey County.

She was born July 27, 1926, in Morgan County, a daughter of the late William (Billy) and Hazel Wagstaff Sealock.

Opal graduated from Lash High School in Zanesville. She was a devoted caregiver to her parents and her in laws for many years, she was a housewife and a Clerk at Zayre Department Store where she retired after 18 years in 1991. Opal was a member of the Center Methodist Church and the Golden Sixties. She enjoyed reading her Bible, polka and square dancing with her husband and friends over the years. She especially loved going to her children and grandchildren's sporting events.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Gregg Sealock and an infant sister, Margaret.

She is survived by her husband, Ellis Gibson, whom she married on September 2, 1950, their children, Marilyn (Don) Rogers, of Senecaville, Ed (Pam) Gibson of Winterset, and Karen (Jeff) Riggans of Byesville. Also left to cherish her memory are her seven grandchildren, Diane (Steve) Pressdee, Melanie (Eddie) Wilson, Doug (Jennifer) Gibson, Angela (Ryan) Bosserman, Keith (Stephanie) Rogers, Brandon Riggans and Josh (Leandra) Riggans, twelve great grandchildren, Blake and Layne Pressdee, Shanah Dagen, Caleb Wilson, Madilynn, Natalie, Harper and Elizabeth Rogers, Cole Bosserman, Owen, Addy, and Emmy Riggans, and four great-great grandchildren, Leighanna Dagen, Baylor and Kinsley Roberts, Kasen West and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 4-7 PM. Services will be Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 11:00 at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge. Woody Biggs will be officiating. Interment will be held at Center Cemetery.
