Oscar Eugene "Gene" Terrell, 78, loving husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather, died Sunday (March 7, 2010) at the Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 10, 1931 in Parkersburg WV, son of the late Harvey Terrell and Bessie (Goudy) Terrell. Mr. Terrell was a retired union heavy equipment operator and iron worker. He also worked for several years in different capacities at Robins Ridge Golf Course. He was an avid golfer and a former member of the Eagles Aerie 386 of Cambridge. Mr. Terrell was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Clara M. (Symons) Terrell of the home; two sons, Daniel (& Therese) Terrell of Cambridge and Gilbert (& Denise) Terrell of Lore City; two sisters, Donna Terrell Robertson of Cambridge and Lillith Terrell Emerich of Lore City; five grandsons, Trever (& Emily) Terrell of Omaha NE, Daniel Terrell of Norfolk VA, Derek Terrell of Lore City, Matthew (& Melissa) Terrell of Cambridge and Dallas (& Melisa) Terrell of Wooster; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jesica and Madilyn with two more expected; and many nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Tuesday (March 9, 2010) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 1:15 p.m. Burial will be at Old Washington Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
