Paul N. Betts

Paul N. Betts, 86, of Quaker City, died Sunday (April 1, 2012) at the Emerald Pointe Nursing Home in Barnesville. He was born August 19, 1925 in Batesville, son of the late Charles C. Betts and Mary N. (Neuhart) Betts-Boles. Mr. Betts was the parts supervisor at the former Gibson Chevrolet of Quaker City for many years. He was a graduate of Quaker City High School. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a sixty-year member of the Quaker City Masonic Lodge and was a member of the American Legion # 337. Mr. Betts was a US Navy veteran, having served during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta (Hall) Betts, who died January 10, 2002. They were married August 2, 1947. He is survived by two daughters, Paula (& J. Dean) Winland of Barnesville and Shelley (& Dennis "Doc") Eddy of Barnesville; a sister, Luella (& James U. "Peanut") Carpenter of Quaker City; six grandchildren, Jason (& Diane) Winland of Beallsville, Jill Winland of Barnesville, Justin (& Kyla) Winland of Barnesville, Ryan (& Amanda) Eddy of Barnesville, Brandon (& Becky) Eddy of Barnesville, and Heather (& Lorne) Roe of Salesville; fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and two nephews. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where Masonic services will be held in the evening. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (April 4, 2012) at 11 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, with Rev. James Lee officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Paul's name to the Quaker City United Methodist Church, PO Box 409, Quaker City OH 43773.
