Services will be held on Tuesday (June 10, 2008) at 11:00 a.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, for Paul E. Beynon, 70, of Old Washington, who died Tuesday (May 27, 2008) at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. Pastor Randy Mercer will officiate. Burial will be in Guernsey Memory Gardens, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. Mr. Beynon was born June 2, 1937, in Cambridge, son of the late Herbert Beynon Sr. and Millie Florence Lippencott Beynon. He worked at Cambridge Glass Co. He retired from Cambridge City Schools, where he served as custodian. He was known for telling a great story, and was a friend to everyone he met. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during peacetime. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Richard, Clifford, Kenneth and Herbert Beynon Jr.; and a sister, Goldie Smith. He leaves his wife, Monna Devore Beynon, whom he married March 28, 1988; a daughter, Paula Beynon and her husband, Mike Woods of Columbus; a stepdaughter, Dena (Mark) Patterson of Old Washington; a stepson, Scott (Becky) Estep of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Carl (Shirley) Beynon and Robert Beynon, both of Cambridge; a sister, Judy (William) Pethtel of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Austin Wickem, Mitchell Patterson and Natasha Estep Haga; a great-granddaughter, Baylee Haga; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, is handling the arrangements.
