Paul Harold Winland Sr., 85, of Salesville, died Wednesday (June 12, 2013) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born February 25, 1928 in Somerton, son of the late Lennie Winland and Eula (Perkins) Winland Morris. Mr. Winland had worked for twenty-two years as a press operator at Randall & Textron Plastics. He retired in 1989. He was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Cambridge VFW Post 2901. He enjoyed gardening, four-wheeling, and camping. He owned several John Deere tractors. He cherished spending time with his grandkids and family. Mr. Winland was a member of the Palestine Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Francis Morris; a grandchild; and four great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Ardith (Roe) Winland, whom he married March 31, 1953; four sons, Paul (& Donna) Winland Jr. of Trinity TX, Edwin Winland of Salesville, John (& Carol) Winland of Salesville, and Kevin Winland of Byesville; three daughters, Bonnie (& Larry) Boggs of Concord NC, Mary Stevens of Lore City, and Beth (& Mitchell) Matyas of Georgia; three brothers, Francis (& Wanda) Morris of Cambridge, Herman (& Joan) Morris of Fountain Valley CA, and Gary Morris of Senecaville; a sister, Jane (& Roy) Wolfe of Cambridge; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Bear. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held on Monday (June 17th) at 11 a.m. Burial will be Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
