Pauline L. Cornish

Pauline "Pauli" L. Cornish, 92, of Winterset, passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday (May 21, 2016) at her home. She was born Feb. 9, 1924, in Antrim, daughter of the late Arthur and Katherine (Tedrick) Gray. She was a retired bookkeeper, having worked at the Union Free School District 3. She was a member of the Friends of the Kennedy Stone House, life member of Huntington Historical Society of Huntington, N.Y., honorary member of the Guernsey County Historical Society, the outreach chairman of Winterset United Methodist Church, life member of the Degganhart Museum and she started the Guernsey County Herb Guild and the women of the Bible Group. She was a member of the Winterset United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, F. Wesley Cornish, who died July 7, 1990. They were married on Aug. 5, 1942. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Wesley Cornish; three brothers, Richard, Harold and Chester Gray; and a sister, Mildred Louise Swigart. She is survived by her son, Ronald Paul "Ron" (Karen) Cornish of Winterset; two grandchildren, Annette Cornish of Zanesville and Alice (Daniel) Carmany of Hilliard; a stepgrandchild, Donavan Stanley of Columbus; three great-grandchildren, River and Neela Carmany of Columbus and Aleisha Stanley of Columbus; and several special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Services will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. to time of service at 11 a.m. at the Winterset United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Glenview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Winterset United Methodist Church or to the Friends of the Kennedy Stone House.
