Phyllis A. Suhar

Phyllis A. Suhar, 74, of Cambridge, died Thursday (August 19, 2010) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. She was born March 21, 1936 in Byesville, daughter of the late Michael S. and Emily (Fecho) Gervenak. Mrs. Suhar retired in 1996 from Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center after twenty-seven years of service, where she served as Director of Nursing. She graduated from St. Benedict Central High School and the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. Mrs. Suhar was actively involved with the Area Agency on Aging, both at the local and state levels. She served on the Board of Directors for the Guernsey County Senior Citizens and also served on the Board of Trustees of Guardians of Guernsey County. Above all else, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephan A. Suhar; three brothers, Robert, Richard and David Gervenak; and a sister, Eleanor Kachilla. She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Laura) Suhar of Chicago IL and John Suhar of Cambridge; a daughter, Barbara (Dana) Reinbeau of Norwich; four grandchildren, Katie (Ryan) Koczorowski, Steve Suhar, Jessica (Nathan) Tharp and Connor Reinbeau; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Monday (August 23, 2010) at 10 a.m. with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be made in Mrs. Suhar's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
