R. Christopher "Chris" Caples, 47, of Cambridge, passed away Friday (April 6, 2012) at his home. He was born September 12, 1964 in Cambridge, son of Robert D. Caples and the late Nancy (Sherrard) Caples. Mr. Caples was a 1982 graduate of Buckeye Trail High School. He received his B.A. from Ohio University in 2007 and his Masters of Counseling from Ohio University Zanesville in 2009. He was the director of residential services for the Thompkins Child and Adolescent Service Inc. He was a member of the Guernsey County Children's Service Board of Directors. He was also a foster parent. Mr. Caples was a former 4-H member. He loved music and loved to sing. He enjoyed life and was devoted to his work with children. He was an advocate for all children and believed that all children deserve a fair chance. He touched the lives of many families over the years. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Louise Sherrard; and his paternal grandparents, Don and Freda Caples. He is survived by his father, Robert D. Caples of Old Washington; a sister, Cathy (& Doyce) Holt of Old Washington; a niece, Carrie (& Jesse) Nabholz of Conway AZ; a nephew, Garret (& Chelsea) Holt of Delaware; a great-nephew, August Nabholz; a special friend, Lisa Grove; his foster sons, Matt, James, and Cody; his beloved dog, Murphy; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his numerous friends & his work family. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Friday (April 13, 2012) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Merlin Wentworth officiating. Burial will be at Old Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The R.
