R. Joan Ferguson

R. Joan Ferguson, 89, of Cambridge, died Friday (December 7, 2012) at the Cardinal House. She was born January 27, 1923 in Jefferson Township/Guernsey County, daughter of the late Ellis Tedrick and Forrest (Adams) Tedrick. Joan retired from the Guernsey County Probate Court, where she had served as a deputy clerk. She was a 1940 graduate of Madison High School and a 1941 graduate of Akron Actual Business College. She also completed flight attendant training with TWA. Joan was a very active lifetime member of the former 2nd United Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Chambers, who gave his life for his country in 1940 during WWII in Europe; her second husband, Ward Ferguson, who died in 1990; and a brother, Ray Tedrick. She is survived by two sons, Scott (& Ann) Ferguson of Cambridge and Mark (& Liz) Ferguson of Centerville; a daughter, Sally Ferguson of Cambridge; her grandchildren, Luke Ferguson of McCall ID, Megan Ferguson-Bishop of Coeur d'Alene ID, Sarah Ferguson currently a student at Indiana University, and Emily Ferguson currently a student at The Ohio State University; and a great-granddaughter, Charlie Ann Bishop. Family and friends may call on Monday (December 10, 2012) from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jim Spain officiating. Burial will be at Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Joan's name to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
