Rae Ellen Evans

Rae Ellen (Wells) Evans, 70, of Old Washington, died Saturday (January 1, 2022) at her home.

She was born May 24, 1951 in Phoenix AZ, daughter of the late Charles Wells and Edna (Wittenbrook) Baker.

She attended Zane Trace High School.  She was a former employee of the Old Appalachian Behavioral Health Care Hospital as an LPN.

Mrs. Evans was a member of the Cambridge Eagles Aerie #386.

She enjoyed crafting, especially crocheting, and has donated to the local scarf project.  She enjoyed watching the birds (hummers), wildlife, and dirt track racing.

She cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Mrs. Evans was the recipient of organ donation on July 5, 2018.  This gift gave her quality of life and time with her family.  She and her family were grateful for this gift.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Evans; a son, Timothy L. Fahner; and a brother, Butch Wells.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Wally) Bates of Old Washington; a sister, Colleen Norton of Georgia; three grandsons that she loved and was very proud of, Trevor Israel of Dubuque IA, Bricen Bates of York NA, and Brendan Bates of Old Washington; and several nieces and nephews.  The family would like to extend a special thanks to The Ohio State University Transplant Team.

Visitation will be held Thursday (January 6, 2022) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Randy Mercer officiating. Friends and family are welcome, but due to COVID-19 please take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and everyone else's should you decide to attend.

Burial will be at Old Washington Cemetery.
