Ralph L. Starr, 98, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Tuesday (June 15, 2010) at Countryview Assisted Living Center. He was born Feb. 10, 1912, son of the late Jasper C. and Anna (Boniphant) Starr. Mr. Starr was a retired glass worker, painter and school employee. He was a member of East Cambridge Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Gardner) Starr; his eldest son, Joseph L. Starr Sr.; two brothers and a sister; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Cassler. He is survived by a son, James (Arlene) Starr; and daughter, Jean A. (Charles) McMahon, both of Cambridge; a daughter-in-law, Isabelle Starr of Cambridge; a brother, Jasper (Bonnie) Starr of Cambridge; eight grandchildren, Joseph L. (Cinda) Starr of Old Washington, James (Sherri) Starr of Caldwell, Sharon (William) Cassler, William (Lori) Starr, Jeff Starr, David Starr, Diana McMahon and Donna (Brad) Gotschall, all of Cambridge; nine great-grandchildren, DJ Cassler, Leslie, Maggie and Annie Starr, Matt Starr, Erica Starr, Sarah Gotschall, Ryan Larrick and Jennifer (James) Cachet; three great--great-grandchildren, Kolby and Kaleb Larrick, and Quinn Cachet; and his special friends at Countryview Assisted Living Center. Calling hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Friday with Michael Vierheller and Ron VanWey officiating. Burial will be in Old Washington Cemetery.
