Randall B. "Randy" Mellott, 52, of Quaker City, died Friday (May 6, 2016). He was born Sept. 29, 1963, in Barnesville, son of the late Paul "Junior" Mellott and Delores (Dunfee) Mellott. Mr. Mellott was a self-employed plumber. He was a Methodist. He was a 1981 graduate of Buckeye Trail High School. He enjoyed farm life and his tractor, crosswords, the breakfast club of Quaker City and attending every event of his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Perry) Mellott, who he married on Dec. 27, 1997; a son, Eddie Tipton of Cambridge; a daughter, Lacey (Richard) Betts of Quaker City; two brothers, Jeff Mellott of Cambridge and Russ (Mitzie) Mellott of Columbus; four grandchildren, Noah, Faith and Gracey Betts and Gavin Tipton; a grandmother, Arline Markle; mother and father-in-law, Dale and Donna Perry; sister-in-law, Rola Perry; and brother-in-law, Dennis (Lana) Perry. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City. Services will be Tuesday (May 10, 2016) at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carol Touvell officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Quaker City. Memorial contributions may be made to either The Golden Rule School or the Quaker City Methodist Church.
