Randy Spencer

Randy L. Spencer, 65, of Cambridge, passed away Friday (September 23, 2016) at his home, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 21, 1951 in Columbus, son of the late Kathleen (Malone) Spencer. Randy worked at TW Metals until they closed, then as a truck driver for Shaw Environmental. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Betty Slifko; his grandmother, Geraldine Ferris; a sister, Darlene Nordstrom; and a brother, Richard Spencer. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Joyce (Slifko) Spencer; two daughters, Sally (& Jeff) Dyer and Elaine Spencer (& Andy Halsey); four grandsons, Evan Spencer, Max Spencer, Mathew Dyer and Carter Dyer; a sister, Twila Hartley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Sue Slifko, Fred and Martha Hannon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be Monday (September 26, 2016) at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 1:30 p.m. with Father Paul Hrezo officiating. Burial will follow at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
