Ray Stanley Hayhurst, 66, of Cambridge, passed away Friday morning (April 17, 2009) at Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 9, 1942 near Antrim, son of the late Joseph Wilson and Mary Opal Kirk Hayhurst. He was a graduate of Madison High School in 1961. Mr. Hayhurst was a member of the Antrim United Methodist Church and active in the Trinity Baptist Church in Cambridge. He was employed for several years at the Cambridge IGA, Whites Barber Shop and Guernsey Industries. Ray loved sports and was particularly knowledgeable about baseball players, statistics, etc. He also attended as many Cambridge High School sporting events as he could. Mr. Hayhurst leaves one brother, Richard A. (Dr. Michiko) Hayhurst who lives in Texas. He leaves cousins, James W. (Carol) Hayhurst, Ruth (Paul) Tuttle of Cambridge, Martha (George) Hammer of Loveland OH, David Hayhurst of Cleveland, John (Jeri) Hayhurst of Lodi OH and Joseph (Ollie) Decker of Massillon OH. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held Thursday (April 23, 2009) at 1:30 p.m. officiated by Pastor Mark Stinson. Burial will be in the Antrim Community Cemetery.
