Raymond Brothers Jr.

Raymond Brothers Jr., 92, of Quaker City, died Wednesday (December 30, 2020) at the Helen Purcell Home, Zanesville.

He was born May 31, 1928 in Quaker City, son of the late John Raymond Brothers and Jennie (Smith) Brothers.

A graduate of Old Washington High School, Mr. Brothers retired after thirty-eight years with Broughtons Dairy, where he had been a delivery truck driver.

He was a member of the Old Washington Presbyterian Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going to their sporting events.  He also enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (Kennedy) Brothers, who died January 16, 2013.  They were married June 19, 1948.  Also deceased are two brothers, Dwight and Ronald Brothers; and three sisters, Gladys Bowman, Frances Dusz, and Edna Grubbs.

He is survived by two sons, Gordon (Nancy) Brothers of Claysville and Ken (Beth) Brothers of Canton; two daughters, Kathy (David) Lake of Ft. Myers FL and Susan (Eric) St. Clair of Senecaville; a sister, Martha Wilde of Brookings SD; thirteen grandchildren, Megan (Mike) Brothers, Abby (Parker) Brothers, Ryan St. Clair, Sara St. Clair, Nicole (Joe) Smith, Joshua (Tasha) Brothers, Kayla (Austin) Eveland, John (Olivia) Brothers, J.J. Brothers, Christina Seich, Susie (Fred) Nisly, Tracy Chapman, and Cameron Brothers; eighteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service with burial at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, will be held for the family on Saturday (January 2, 2021).  Pastor John Brothers will officiate.

As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Old Washington Presbyterian Church, PO Box 267, Old Washington OH 43768; or 2) The American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478 Oklahoma City OK 73123.
