Raymond Oscar "Snuffy" Slasor, 89, of Cambridge, died Monday (July 24, 2017) at Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 8, 1927 in Birmingham, son of the late Pearl Slasor and Nola (Collins) Slasor. Mr. Slasor retired from Liberty Township, where he had served as a trustee for many years. He enjoyed mowing, working on lawnmowers, and telling stories He was Methodist by faith. Mr. Slasor was a US Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Hilton) Slasor, who died July 2, 2001. They were married October 17, 1949. Also deceased are four sisters, six brothers, and a son, Raymond L. Slasor. He is survived by a son, Richard Slasor (& Nancy Lardin) of Byesville; two daughters, Diana (& Duane) Johnson of Cambridge and Gloria Fisher (& Colin Young) of Cambridge; two sisters, Joann Kenny of Newcomerstown and Evelyn Darlene Lake of Byesville; six grandchildren, Tony, Heather, Raylin, Amber, Cambria, and Curtis; eleven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; special friends, Gary Cartner and Cecil VanDyne; and his special dog, Annie. Visitation will be held Thursday (July 27, 2017) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Friday (July 28, 2017) at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Kimbolton Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Guernsey County Dog Shelter, 62824 Bennett Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
