Raymond E. Wyers, 90, of Cambridge, died Saturday (August 8, 2015) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born August 3, 1925 in Coolville, son of the late Albert Wyers and Edith (Balderson) Wyers. Mr. Wyers was a foreman for the A.C. Williams Company for many years. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, whom he loved very much. He enjoyed fishing and watching old Western movies. Mr. Wyers was a US Army veteran, having served during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars for his service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Allen Wyers; an infant son, Raymond Wyers Jr.; three brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Elaine (Wearley) Wyers, whom he married November 24, 1951; four sons, Dennis Ray Wyers of Ravenna, Terry (& Candy) Wyers of Ravenna, Steven Michael (& Carolyn) Wyers of Byesville, and Jeffery (& Donna) Wyers of Byesville; two daughters, Cheryl (& Charles) Hale of Cambridge and Caryll Hickman of Cambridge; a sister, Charlene Todd of Ravenna; a daughter-in-law, Debi Wyers of Cambridge; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his dear friends, Dee & Kim Cornelle of Columbus; and his pet yorkie, Scarlett Ann. Visitation will be held Thursday (August 13, 2015) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Dick Harris officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
