Retha M. Ratliff, 77, of Cambridge and formerly of Salesville, died Sunday (October 30, 2016) at her home following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 27, 1939 in Grundy VA, daughter of the late Giles "Bud" Stacy and Gertrude (Sparks) Stacy. Ms. Ratliff retired after thirty-two years with Cambridge Health Care Center, where she had been a supervisor of the housekeeping department. She enjoyed watching television game shows, listening to country music, travelling, and sewing. Above all else, she cherished visiting her family. She was Baptist by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Ratliff; a son, Richard Todd Ratliff; a sister, Phyllis Stanford; two brothers, Clarence Stacy and Gary Stacy; and a grandson, Casey Harless. She is survived by two daughters, Vanessa Ratliff of Salesville and Lesa (& Terry) Harless of Salesville; four brothers, Bill (& Lela) Stacy of Salesville, Henry (& Sandy) Stacy of Cedar Bluff VA, James (& Kathy) Stacy of Grundy VA, and Larry (& Shelia) Stacy of Lebanon VA; two sisters, Eula Evans of Cambridge and Shirley Hensley of Hurley VA; seven grandchildren, Jess Harper, Breeze Harper, Greg Wheeler, Melissa Whittle, Sara Harless, Taylor Harless, and Travis Harless; four great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Casey, Matthew, and Aiden; and a sister-in-law, Gertrude (& Leslie) Chaney of Dinwiddie VA. Visitation will be held Tuesday (November 1, 2016) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Wednesday (November 2, 2016) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
