Richard A. "Dick" Core, 75, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (August 3, 2011) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born August 6, 1935 in Morgantown WV, son of the late Beryl Core and Agnes (Feathers) Core Shaver. Mr. Core was the owner of the former J.E.D. Enterprises, which specialized in ATM sales. He was also the owner of the former Cambridge Insurance. He had worked at Ohio Farmers Insurance for a number of years. Throughout his life, he was always involved in sales. He was a member of Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cambridge. Mr. Core was a member of the Mansfield Elks and the Cambridge Elks BPOE 448, Cambridge VFW Post 2901, and the Cambridge Eagles Aerie 386. He enjoyed golfing and also playing darts at the Long Branch Restaurant. He cherished spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. It was said that he always liked "a good cup of coffee". Mr. Core was a US Navy veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Christa Cox Eldredge. He is survived by his children, Jeff (& Karen) Stone of Lakeland FL and their children, Austin and Ashley; John Eldredge of Cambridge and his children, Melissa, Karly, Lindsey, Katie, and Julie; Scott Eldredge of Cambridge and his children, Adam, Allie, Tanner, and Perry; Kelly (& Jeff) Murrey of Pittsburgh PA and their daughter, Abby (& Pete); and Karen (& Mike) Yanico of Cambridge and their children, Jake, Emily, and Drew; a sister, Dolores "Dottie" Miller of Westover WV; three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Austin, and Jenelle; his special friends, Jodi Finch and Teresa & Andy Yandora; two nieces, Linda & Pam Miller; and the mother of his children, Anne (& Jim) Burns of Cambridge. Family and friends may call on Saturday (August 6, 2011) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Joe Bradley officiating. Military services will also be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
