Richard John Fitzgerald

Richard John Fitzgerald, 87, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at his home.

Richard was born on December 28, 1936, in Girard, Ohio, the son of the late Richard and Laura (MacNaulty) Fitzgerald.

He worked in retail as a manager and believed in sharing wealth with people less fortunate. He also loved all animals, donating aluminum cans to the Animal Shelter and adopting animals through the World Wildlife. He served in the United States Air Force and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns. Richard was very proud of his Irish heritage.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Richard is survived by his wife, Charleen (Bailey) Fitzgerald, whom he married in 1966; his son, Michael Fitzgerald of Ravenna; his daughter, Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Columbus; and two sisters, Catheleen Fitzgerald of Del Ray Beach, and Beverly (Joe) Gunther of Ohio.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 3-5PM, with the service to immediately follow at Thorn Black Funeral in Cambridge. Military Honors will be provided by the Guernsey County Veterans Council at 5PM.
