Richard M. "Dick" Woltz, 75, of Cambridge, passed away Friday (September 15, 2006) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born July 7, 1931 in Rockbridge OH, son of the late Richard L. Woltz and Mildred O. (Primmer) Woltz. Mr. Woltz retired from the Guernsey County Sheriff's Department after thirty years of service as a deputy. He was a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau for over fifty years and a member of the Indian Camp Grange. He was a 1949 graduate of New Concord High School. Mr. Woltz was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Cornelius; a brother, Benny Woltz; a granddaughter, Jennifer Cornelius; and a great-grandson, Maliki Rodhe. He leaves his wife, Janet "Jan" (Dershen) Woltz of the home, whom he married on August 24, 1952; three sons, Jay (& Jean) Woltz, Dale Woltz and Davey (& Lisa) Whittle, all of Cambridge; a daughter, Barb (& Ron) Woltz of Booneville MS; a sister, Norma Jean Warner of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Kelly (& Mike) Rodhe, Samuel "Allen" Cornelius, Jason Johnson, Kimberly "Kim" Heskett, Logan Whittle and Kelsey Whittle; a special great-granddaughter is expected in December; and several nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Monday (September 18, 2006) at 1 p.m. with Rev. Roger Morrow officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
