Richard "Dick" Metheney, 71, of Quaker City, passed away Saturday (February 1, 2014) at his home. He was born September 23, 1942 in Wadsworth, son of the late Lynn Metheney and Ruby (Starcher) Metheney. Mr. Metheney was a retired steel worker, having worked at Republic and LTV Steel. He was an avid writer who currently has four books in print. He was a member of the Rainy Day Writers and the founder of the Cambridge Writers Workshop. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Harris) Metheney, whom he married on April 11, 2001; three sons, Daryl Metheney of Valley City, Richard (& Sarah) Metheney of Valley City, and Russell (& Sue) Metheney of Delaware; a stepson, David Lashchuk of Hudson; a stepdaughter, Patricia Righetti of Hartville; two brothers, David (& Leah) Metheney of Senecaville and Paul (& Melinda) Metheney of Charlotte NC; two sisters, Mary (& Jack) Carpenter of Seville and Avis Ryan of Clearwater FL; eleven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, and also on Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (February 5, 2014) at 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Pastor Jonathan Thibos officiating. Private burial will take place on Thursday at Mound Hill Cemetery, Seville.
