Richard H. Powell

Richard H. "Dickie" Powell, 87, of Batesville, died Sunday (November 4, 2018).
He was born September 15, 1931 in Salesville, son of the late Harold Powell and Nellie (St. Clair) Powell.
A graduate of Batesville High School, Mr. Powell had worked at Mahle Graphite for many years.
He was a member of the Batesville Methodist Church.
He enjoyed bowling and was a member of several bowling leagues. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Powell was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, a life member of the Batesville American Legion, a member of the Barnesville VFW Post, a member of the Barnesville Elks, and a member of the Barnesville Eagles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Kathryn (Bickford) Powell, who died January 2, 1998. They were married June 10, 1950. Also deceased is a sister, Nancy Neuhart.
He is survived by two sons, Dickie (& Debbie) Powell of Summerfield and Jimmy (& Carla) Powell of Quaker City; a daughter, Debbie Flood of Quaker City; a sister, Marilyn Leasure of Quaker City; six grandchildren, Amanda, Chad, Summer, Brad, Courtney, and Cheyenne; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday (November 7, 2018) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held Thursday (November 8, 2018) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating.
Burial will be at Batesville Cemetery, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
