Richard Blaine Smith, 73, of Quaker City, died Saturday (Dec. 13, 2008) at his residence. He was born May 5, 1935, in Guernsey County, son of the late Delbert Mahlon and Esta Belle (Tennant) Smith. Mr. Smith was retired from Arrow Molded Plastics. He was a truck and van driver for the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of Salt Fork Baptist Church since 1949 and a trustee for the church lodges and clubs. He enjoyed farming, woodworking, fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by a brother, Delbert Herman Smith. He leaves his wife, Joanne Marie (Goodwill) Smith of Quaker City, whom he married Nov. 25, 1953; a son, Richard B. (Patti) Smith, Jr. of Quaker City; six daughters, Judith C. (Kenny) Davidson of Fairmount, W.Va., Ruby B. (Kenny) Groves of North Canton, Della 'Denise" (John) Henry of Pekin, Ind., Joyce A. (Jim) Pulley of Quaker City, Rachel E. (Benny) Fuller of Old Washington, Sally I. (Paul) Fields of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews; a cousin, James Lamp of Columbus, who was like a son to him; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (December 17, 2008) with Pastor Floyd Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Salt Fork Baptist Church.
