Richard Waggoner, 78, of Cambridge, died Saturday (August 20, 2016) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born July 17, 1938 in Akron, son of the late John Waggoner and Ellen (Wood) Waggoner. Mr. Waggoner had worked at the former Cambridge State Hospital as a supervisor in the housekeeping department. He had also been a coal miner for several years. He was a member of the House of Prayer Fellowship. Mr. Waggoner was a US Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, April Lantz-Waggoner; and two brothers, Kenneth and Andrew. He is survived by his wife, Mary (King) Waggoner, whom he married February 14, 1978; a cousin, Gary Edmunds of Lore City; and several nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday (August 24, 2016) from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 5 p.m. with Pastor John Keaton officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Kidney Care Center of Cambridge, 6901 Glenn Highway, Cambridge OH 43725.
