Richard A. "Wheels" Cantor

Richard Alan "Wheels" Cantor, 62, of Cambridge, died Monday (March 18, 2013) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born September 27, 1950 in Cambridge, son of Lois (Christian) Cantor and the late James Thomas Cantor. Mr. Cantor was an accountant with NCR for twenty-five years. He was a 1968 graduate of Cambridge High School. Mr. Cantor was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He earned the Purple Heart Award for his service. He was a life member of the VFW Post 2901 and the DAV. He was also a member of the Eagles Aerie 386 and the Elks of Cambridge, as well as the bowling league. He enjoyed NASCAR and was a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. Mr. Cantor raised R.A.C. Beagles and was a member of the Brace Beagle Club. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard A. Cantor II; a daughter, Rachelle Ann Cantor; a brother, Edward Thomas; his grandmother, Mildred Christian; his in-laws, Neilan and Mary Landis; a nephew, James Brent; his paternal grandfather, Clarence "Dick" Cantor; his paternal grandmother, Mabel (Shooter) Cantor Williams; and his paternal step-grandfather, Mike Williams. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Landis) Cantor of the home, whom he married August 9, 1970; his mother, Lois Cantor of Cambridge; a brother, Jim (& Darlene) Cantor of Caldwell; a sister, Cindy (& Gary) Oliver of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews, including three special nieces, Shelley, Missy, and Cathy; his special friends, Bo and Ann Burt, and their children, Corey, Courtney, and B.J.; his dog, Pooh Bear; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many great Brace Beagle friends. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Friday (March 22, 2013) at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
