Rick F. Koenig

June 25, 1958 — March 5, 2007

Rick F. Koenig, 48, of Cambridge, succumbed Monday (March 5, 2007) after a courageous battle with cancer at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born June 25, 1958 in Akron, son of Anna (Misbrener) Koenig and the late Fritz Koenig. Rick attended Archbishop Hoban of Akron High School and Technical Electronics Tech School. After graduating from school, he moved to the Cambridge area where Rick was employed with NCR and later with T.W. Metals for almost twenty years. Rick was a devoted father, husband and friend to those who knew him. He loved coaching his sons, Jacob and Matthew, in baseball for more than eleven years with Pike and East Muskingum Baseball Association. He also was a soccer coach for EOSAY and East Muskingum for several years with both his boys. He loved golfing, fishing, gardening and the outdoors. He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, WWF Wrestling and Buckeyes fan. He enjoyed bonfires on Saturday nights with his neighbors and friends. Rick loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his wife, Diana (Thomas) Koenig of the home; his mother, Anna (Misbrener) Koenig of Tallmadge; two sons, Jacob Koenig and Matthew Koenig both of the home; a sister, Cindy (& Joe) Halleck of Tallmadge; a niece, Angie Law of Kent; a nephew, Patrick Halleck of Akron; several aunts, uncles and cousin of Germany and the Akron area; special friends, Bob Bruner, Larry Normansell and Tom Davey, who had been there for Rick and his family throughout his illness. Family and friends may call on Thursday (March 8, 2007) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Byesville Assembly of God Church, 102 S 7th Street, where memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Joe Summers, Pastor Roger Larrison and Father David Misbrener officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to: American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland OH 44106, an organization which allows cancer patients and their caregivers to stay while at the Cleveland Clinic during treatment.
