Robert "Sam" Wayne Clum, 74, of Newcomerstown, passed away Wednesday (February 11, 2009) at the Union Hospital in Dover, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 29, 1934 in Newcomerstown, son of the late Ernest Emory Clum and Helen Noreen Thompson. Mr. Clum was self-employed and operated Sam's Tree Service for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the American Legion # 0431. Mr. Clum was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane (Webb) Clum, who passed away on February 11, 1975; and three brothers, Harold "Skeet" Clum, George Emory Clum and Paul E. "Curly" Clum. He leaves three sons, Wayne Clum of Conroe TX, Mike (& Carla) Clum of Cumberland and Jeff Clum of Newcomerstown; a daughter, Cookie (& David) Schlarb of Newcomerstown; thirteen grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, Cali, Jacob, Hunter, Shaila, Kierstan, Sam, Mike, Christopher, Aaron, Andrea and Charlie; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Zackery, Curtis, Gage, Emma, Conner, Cannon and Michael. Family and friends may call on Monday (February 16, 2009) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 2 p.m.
