Robert Ray Garr, 85, of Lore City, died Tuesday (October 20, 2009) at his home. He was born April 4, 1924 in Tennessee, son of the late Clayton Garr and Mary (Morefield) Garr. He married Helen Gertrude (Radel) Garr on December 20, 1980. Mr. Garr retired from General Motors after thirty years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Garr enjoyed mowing and building things, in fact he built all of the buildings on his property. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Gertrude (Radel) Garr, who died March 23, 2008; two sons, Robert and Jerry Garr; a brother, Bert Garr; and a step-daughter, Robin Carter. He is survived by his children, Lynda Mayne of Ravenna, Joyce Potter of Tennessee and Loretta Sisi of Port Clinton; his step-children, Lester Kruse of Cleveland, Donald Kruse of Cleveland, Thomas Kruse of Parma, Robert Kruse of Cambridge, Nancy Rosenfield of Cambridge, Deborah Paus of Cleveland and Eileen Jamison of Lore City; two brothers, Glenn Garr of Mountain City TN and William Garr of Toughkenamon PA; a sister, Hazel McCoy of Churchhill TN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday (October 23, 2009) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
