Robert Hastings, 65, of Quaker City, passed away Thursday morning (May 14, 2009) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born March 28, 1944 in Batesville, son of the late Roy Hastings and Eleanor (Cline) Hastings. Mr. Hastings had many friends and was a barber in Quaker City for 35 years. He was also a former employee of Gibson Chevrolet, Quaker City National Bank and the Village of Quaker City. Mr. Hastings served on the Quaker City Volunteer Fire Department and dedicated many years of service to the Village of Quaker City. He was a 1962 graduate of the former Batesville High School. He was hard-working father and was proud of his three sons & grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Charlene (Brothers) Hastings of the home, whom he married on August 21, 1965; three sons, R. Michael (& Barbara) Hastings, Evan (& Cortney) Hastings and Chad (& Anettra) Hastings all of the Quaker City area; seven grandchildren, Lucas, Megan, Brie, Emily, Kasey, Brady and Austin Hastings; four brothers, Don, Dean, Hugh and Lonnie; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday (May 18, 2009) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where a memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor John Neff officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Quaker City Volunteer Fire Department & Emergency Squad, PO Box 326, Quaker City OH 43773.
