Robert L. Heskett, 86, of Quaker City, passed away Friday (Oct. 16, 2015) at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va. He was born July 18, 1929, in Belmont County, son to the late Otis Heskett and Vera (Tracy) Heskett-Simeral-Temple. Mr. Heskett retired from Wheeling Pitt Steel as a customer service representative, and later worked at Martins Ferry Hospital as a security officer. Robert was a member of the Quaker City Masonic Lodge Post 500, and also belonged to the Ohio chapter of Salt and Pepper novelty society, as well as a member of the Central Christian Church of Quaker City. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1951 to 1955, during the Korean War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Hochstrasser) Heskett, who passed away in February 2005; two brothers, Albert and Harold Heskett; and a sister, Hazel Heskett. Survivors include three brothers, Chuck (Irene) Simeral of Quaker City, Arthur (Judy) Heskett of North Carolina and Jerry (Maurie) Pyle of Utah; special friends, Craig (Karen) Neuhart of Quaker City and Sandra Watson of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Quaker City, with Masonic services scheduled for 7:30. Funeral services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating and burial to follow in Holly Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Quaker City Volunteer Fire Department or Central Christian Church.
