Robert E. Pierce, 69, of Salesville, died Wednesday (January 29, 2020) at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
He was born March 17, 1950 in Calais, son of the late Mancel Pierce and Olive (Hayes) Pierce.
A graduate of Shenandoah High School, Mr. Pierce had worked for Shelly & Sands Company, where he had been a bridge superintendent for many years.
He was a member of the Barnesville VFW and a member of the Carpenters Union Local #200.
He was Methodist by faith and attended Mt. Zion Church.
Mr. Pierce was a US Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Beryl, John, and Joe Pierce; and five sisters, Connie Pierce, Laurie Stephen, Melba Carpenter, Emma Schlosser, and Ocie McFredrick.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy (Mahoney) Pierce, whom he married August 16, 1969; a son, Robert (Sara) Pierce of Lore City; three daughters, Kelly Pierce, Sherry Pierce, and Kristina Bean (and the late Wesley Bean) all of Salesville; a brother, Roy Pierce of Killbuck; six grandchildren, Aaron, Kenzie, Colton, Sierra, Kenadie, and Aubrey; two step-grandchildren, Breanna and Baylee; and a great-grandson, Zayden.
Visitation will be held Saturday (February 1, 2020) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating.
Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council at a later date.
