Robert Jay Postlethwait, 64, of Byesville, died unexpectedly June 19, 2014, at his home. He was born Nov. 2, 1949, in Cambridge, son of Raymond Russell and Lura (Cale) Postlethwait. Mr. Postlethwait retired from NCR and the National Guard. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a Methodist by faith, and a participant in the Living Word Outdoor Drama. He was a life member of VFW Post 2901. He loved watching his granddaughter play softball. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack Postlethwait. He leaves four daughters, Connie (Don) Hill of Elyria, Cammie (Donald) Erbes Jr. of Cambridge, Mary Postlethwait of Washington, Pa., and Bobbie (James) Hostutler of Cambridge; two brothers, Raymond "Art" Postlethwait of Byesville and Rusty (Peggy) Postlethwait of Kipling; three sisters, Marjorie (Vaughn) Hill Sr. of Louisville, Ky., Florence ("Pug") Wells of Byesville and Julie Adams of New Philadelphia; eight granddaughters and four grandsons; and his beloved dog, Sergeant Mack. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (June 24, 2014) with Pastor Wilbur Bragg officiating. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery, with military rites being obseved.
