Robert "Bob" Stephens, 73, of Quaker City, died Tuesday (August 31, 2010) at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus. He was born May 25, 1937 in Quaker City, son of the late Alton Stephens and Hazel (Warehime) Stephens. He was a graduate of Marietta College. Mr. Stephens retired from the Switzerland of Ohio School District, where he had been a teacher for many years. Along with his wife, he owned and operated the family business, Stephens Greenhouse & Florist, for several years. He was also the former Quaker City Water Superintendent. He was a member of the Quaker City Volunteer Fire Department and served as chief for many years. He was the former president of Ohio Hills Folk Festival and a charter member of the Quaker City Regulars Coffee Club. Mr. Stephens was a member of the Quaker City United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Leah Mae (Jefferies) Stephens, whom he married July 30, 1955; two sons, Jeff (& Susan) Stephens of Quaker City and Scott (& Kathy) Stephens of St. Clairsville; a daughter, Michelle (& Jim) Lee of Louisville; five grandchildren, Jedediah, Audra, Anthony, Shane and Hannah; four great-grandchildren, Lydia, Isaiah, Elijah and Alivia; and his pal, Gracie. Friends will be received for a time of remembrance on Saturday (September 18, 2010) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Garfield Hall, Quaker City.
