Robert Lee Vance, 91, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (April 15, 2020) at his home.
He was born August 11, 1928 in Cambridge, son of the late Orton Vance and Jessie (Marsh) Vance.
Mr. Vance retired from ODOT and was a Cambridge City Councilman for five years.
He was always involved with his family and loved spending time with his children & grandchildren.
He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.
He was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite, Shriners, and the Bob Evans Coffee Crew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, infant brother, Leonard Vance, and James Vance; and a son-in-law, Daniel Lingle.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Shirley (Carpenter) Vance, whom he married October 25, 1947; his children, Judy Lingle of Byesville and Sandy (Jake) Stewart of Cambridge; a brother, David (Corky) Vance of Norwich; his grandchildren, Michael (Jan) Burt of Cambridge, Bo (Ann) Burt of Cambridge, Jody (Mike) Smith of Byesville, Amy (Jason) Stewart of Cambridge, and Angie Muncy (Tommy Perkins) of Byesville; fourteen great-grandchildren; twenty-seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
Private services will be held for the family with burial to follow at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
