Roberta Fern Lengen, 94, of Cambridge, died Monday (January 27, 2014) at the Red Carpet Health Care Center. She was born January 31, 1919 in Cambridge, daughter of the late George Allen Saltz and Flossie (Colaw) Saltz. Mrs. Lengen was employed at the former S.S. Kresgee, Cambridge Glass, and Oxford Tile. She later retired from The Daily Jeffersonian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for over seventy years. She had a special love for many friends at the church throughout the years. She was a graduate of Brown High School. Mrs. Lengen was vice president of the Federated Democratic Womens Club of Guernsey County and secretary of Cambridge Flying Club Auxiliary. She loved her family and had many friends. She enjoyed many memories of family gatherings and from her places of employment. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jules Durant, who died in 1939; her second husband, Michael Lengen, who died in 1993; sisters, Dorothy McFarland, Beatrice Horton, Faye Davis, and infant Doris; and brothers, Howard "Jack" Saltz and infant Lorain. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Pauline Robertson of Kingsville; nieces and nephews, Joan Fehrman of Byesville, Yvonne (& Ernest) Rogers of Byesville, Marlene (& Raymond) Ferhman of Byesville, Betty Saltz Cunningham of San Diego CA, Arnette Saltz of Cambridge, George (& Becky) Saltz of Cambridge, Nanette Kukral of Mentor, Annette Hayes of Hudsonville, and Paulette Young of Zanesville; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday (January 31, 2014) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dan Milburn officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
