Roger L. "Scooby" Shuman, 57, of Quaker City, died Tuesday (July 26, 2011) at the Barnesville Health Care Center. He was born December 17, 1953 in Cambridge, son of the late Wilford Shuman and Lucille G. (Grimes) Shuman. Mr. Shuman had worked for the former Paradise Lakes. He also had been a caregiver for elderly individuals for the last twenty-five years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 578 of Batesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David A. Shuman. He is survived by two daughters, Rachael Spires of Edgerton and Amanda (& Kevin) Tomplait of Senecaville; two sisters, Janet Foster of Westerville and Judy Kirkbride of Columbus; six grandchildren, Alexis and Joshua Tomplait, Braylee, Shane, Shannon Jr. and Olivea Spires; a sister-in-law, Rita Shuman of Quaker City; special friends, Bruce and Nancy Wehr of Batesville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews. Family and friends may call on Saturday (July 30, 2011) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where a memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be held at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Thorn-Black Funeral Homes, Inc.
