Roger "Pete" Swinehart, 72, of Freeport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (September 20, 2016). He was born February 19, 1944 in Mount Perry, son of the late Willard Swinehart and Dorothy (Taylor) Swinehart. Roger was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and his dogs were very dear to his heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen (Swinehart) Padgett; and two brothers, Larry "Butch" Swinehart and Richard "Dick" Swinehart. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (Spencer) Swinehart; two sons, Jeremy (& April) Spencer of Cypress TX and Josh Swinehart of Freeport; five grandchildren, Jonah, Hannah, Hope, Jayden, and Tara; a great-granddaughter, Avalynn "Peanut"; a stepdaughter, Leah (Spencer) Holbert of Blacklick; two sisters, Beverly (& Kevin) Childs of Zanesville and Betty (& Frank) Boner of Newark; a sister-in-law, Mary Swinehart of Somerset; three brothers-in-law, John (& Sharon) Morrison of Pflugerville TX, Mark Spencer of Zanesville, and Paul (& Vickie) Spencer of Punta Gorda FL; and many nieces & nephews. No calling hours will be observed. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life on Saturday (September 24, 2016) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the family's home (71721 Lodge Road, Freeport OH 43973). In lieu of flowers, the family has created a "GoFundMe" account in Roger's name to assist with funeral expenses.
