Rollin Garey Larrison, 73, of Cambridge, died Saturday (May 19, 2012) at St. Ann's Hospital (Mt. Carmel), Columbus. He was born April 24, 1939 in Cambridge, son of the late Walter Rollin Larrison and Vada (Meckley) Larrison-Wilson. Mr. Larrison retired from NCR, where he had been a maintenance electrician. He was a member of the Christ Our Light Parish. Mr. Larrison was an eight-year US Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a 1958 graduate of Byesville High School. Mr. Larrison was a volunteer basketball coach for thirty-five years for the Guernsey Catholic Central and Knights of Columbus basketball teams. He coached both the boys and girls teams. He received the "Atta Boy" award from the Knights of Columbus for his service to the youth in the community. He loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed Canadian fishing trips with his sons and grandsons. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Cambridge VFW Post 2901. He was also a member of the Guernsey County Bass Masters Club, and won the championship award five times. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Lewis Wilson; and his step-mother, Opal Larrison. He is survived by his cherished wife and caregiver, Mary (Tidball) Larrison, whom he married December 26, 1959; three sons, Robert "Garey" Larrison of Cambridge, John (& Jane) Larrison of Cambridge, and Mark Larrison of Gahanna; two daughters, Cindy (& Jay) Thompson of Cambridge and Kathy (& Brad) Gidcumb of Cambridge; twelve grandchildren, Kim Paisley, Kelly Thompson, Chris Larrison, Tiffany Morris, Katie Welsh, Jessica Larrison, Natalie Gidcumb, Peggy Larrison, Justin Gidcumb, Erik Larrison, William Larrison, and Nathan Thompson; six great-grandchildren; two aunts, Clara Valentine and Maria Stevens; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Tim (& Irene) Tidball; and a sister-in-law, Judy (& Victor) King. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where wake services will be held at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday (May 23, 2012) at 10 a.m. at the Christ Our Light Parish - St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
