Ronald W. "Moe" Payton, 54, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (December 1, 2010) at Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 18, 1956 in Zanesville, son of the late Marilyn V. (Brown) Payton-Harris. Mr. Payton attended the Salvation Army. He also attended Lincoln Elementary and then other schools in Columbus. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Maebell Brown; and a brother-in-law, Fred Purdy, Jr. He is survived by a brother, G. Michael (& Joyce) Payton of Columbus; four sisters, Rebecca Payton Stephenson of Columbus, Catherine A. Payton-Purdy of Cambridge, Elizabeth (& Phillip) Payton Lucas of Columbus, and Bonita Harris of York PA; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Rosie Chervenak of Byesville. Family and friends may call on Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Visitation will also be held on Saturday (December 4, 2010) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Called to Freedom Fellowship Church, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bob Hollins officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
