Rowena E Young

Rowena E Young, 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Cambridge Place in Cambridge, Ohio, surrounded by her granddaughters and two of her great granddaughters. She was born on January 29, 1926, in Pike County, a daughter of the late Josiah and Hazel Warren.

She attended First Christian Church of Cambridge. She graduated from Middleport High School as her class salutatorian and retired from the Meigs County Welfare Department. Her big brown eyes and larger-than-life smile lit up the world. She loved reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. Anyone that had the pleasure of Rowena's cooking, knew her sour dough pancakes were the greatest of all.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Joseph A. Young, her sisters Garnet Warren and Maxine McHaffie, her brothers, Josiah Warren Jr, and H. Gerald Warren, and a great- grandson Eli Bintz.

Rowena is survived by her daughter Melanie (& Dan) Bintz, son Joseph (& Jane) Young, two granddaughters Amanda (& Joe) Shockley, Andrea (& John) Britton, two grandsons Josiah (& Elizabeth) Young and Jacob (& Carissa) Young, twelve great- grandchildren, Sydney and Alex Shockley, Trystan King, Steele Britton, Emmett, Isaac, Scarlett, and Meredith Young, and Cecilia, James, Augustine, and Maris Young.

Visitation will be held at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Cambridge, Monday, February 20, 2023, from 11AM to 1PM, with the service immediately to follow. The burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Middleport, Ohio. Pastor Kirk Gabel will officiate.
