Ruth M. Carpenter, 83, of Quaker City, died Monday (September 26, 2016) at her home. She was born May 19, 1933 in Barnesville, daughter of the late Raymond Johnson and Harriett (White) Johnson. Mrs. Carpenter had worked as a seamstress for the former Campus Shirt Company of Barnesville for many years. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed embroidery & sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carpenter, who died March 21, 1998. They were married August 14, 1954. Also deceased is a daughter, Teresa Justice; and a sister, Martha Leach. She is survived by two daughters, Tina (& Ed) Carrara of Dillsburg PA and Melinda Carpenter of Summerfield; a brother, Clarence "Bud" (& Judy) Johnson of Beloit; a sister, Doris Swinehart of Salem; four grandchildren, Aaron Grywalski, Megan Grywalski, Doug Grywalski, and Stephanie Justice; and two great-grandchildren, Harper Grywalski and Owen Grywalski. Visitation will be held Wednesday (September 28, 2016) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where funeral services will be held Thursday (September 29, 2016) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ted Beuhl officiating. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.
