Sandra K. Brownfield

Sandra K. Brownfield, 75, of Cambridge, passed away Tuesday (November 22, 2016) at the home of her daughter, Christine. She was born June 18, 1941 in Lore City, daughter of the late Walter Zipperich and Kathryn (Scurlock) Zipperich. Mrs. Brownfield attended Lore City High School for three years until the school's closing. She then graduated in 1959 from Cambridge High School. She worked at NCR in Cambridge for twenty-seven years. She was a member of the United Electrical Workers Union. After the plant closed, she went on to get her cosmetology, managing, and instructor's license. She taught at the Cambridge Beauty College for many years and also worked at the Stylette Beauty Salon. Mrs. Brownfield was very active with the Democratic Party, serving many terms in the central committee. She also served on the Lore City Council for many years. She will be remembered most for the love of her family, her generous charity work throughout Guernsey County, and her incredible cooking skills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald F. Brownfield; and a grandson, Joseph S. Brownfield. She is survived by a son, Retired Navy Chief Billie J. (& Amy) Brownfield of Jacksonville FL; three daughters, Christine (& Philip) Simpson of Cambridge, Dawn (& Alan) Canel of Cambridge, and Jodi K. Brownfield of Cambridge; a brother, Walter (& Margaret) Zipperich of Cambridge; nine grandchildren, Troy Travis, Trent Brownfield, T'Ria Brownfield, Katie Canel, Frankie Canel, Josh Brownfield, Jasmine (& Lee) Johnson, Michelle Quarles, and Stevee Quarles; ten great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Arlene (& Gary) Easterday, Jean Lowry, Joann (& Kenneth) Hayes, and Patricia Payton; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Private family visitation, service, and cremation will take place per Mrs. Brownfield's requests. Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, is handling arrangements. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Guernsey County Cancer Society, 927 Wheeling Ave #205, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
