Shannon O'Neal Crawford

Shannon O'neal Crawford, 40, of Chillicothe and formerly of Cambridge, passed away Sunday (January 18, 2009) at the Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 9, 1968 in Queens NY, son of Marie (Barkley) Crawford-Barbary of Louisville KY and the late Booker Thomas Crawford. Mr. Crawford worked as a cook in the food service industry. Mr. Crawford was a member of the St. Paul CME Church of Cambridge, where he sang in the choir and was very active in fundraising for the church. He also sang in the Cambridge Community Choir. He was a 1987 graduate of GNCC & Cambridge High School. Mr. Crawford served in the U.S. Army from 1988 to 1992. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ingram) Crawford of the home, whom he married on June 2, 2006; two step-daughters, Ashley Spencer of Chillicothe and Brook Spencer of Cambridge; a brother, Frank Robinson of Jamaica NY; three sisters, Castella Johnson of Houston MS, Kissena Crawford of Cambridge and Nicky Davis of Cambridge; a step-grandchild, Isabell Wallace; two nephews; five nieces; an uncle, Walter Crawford of NY; his godmother, Idella Mable of Kunkle PA; and his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Alston of Louisville KY. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Friday (January 23, 2009) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Randolph White officiating, assisted by Rev. William Gregory, Rev. Diana Payton and Rev. Fannie Milbry. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
