Shirley E. Carter

Shirley E. Carter, 86, of Kimbolton passed away Wednesday (August 8, 2012) at Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born March 6, 1926 in Guernsey County and was the daughter of the late Cliff and Pearl (Gillis) Snell. Mrs. Carter retired from N.C.R. and had previously worked at RCA. She and her father established the former "White Eyes Music Club". In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. "Tinker" Carter who passed away April 24, 1972; four brothers, two sisters, one grandchild, two great grandchildren. She is survived by three sons, Larry (Virginia) Adkins of West Lafayette, Bill Adkins of Leeds, Utah and Tom Carter of Kimbolton; three daughters, Mary Carter (Bill) Robinson of Zanesville, Patricia Adkins (Steve) Lewis of West Lafayette and Dixie Adkins (Allen) McCormick of West Lafayette; sixteen grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; and special niece Carol Haught of Jane Lew, WV. Calling hours will be Monday (August 13, 2012) from 5-8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge where services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Delbert Snell officiating. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery.
