Shirley Jean Choma, 87, of Cambridge, died Sunday (March 10, 2013) at her home. She was born June 12, 1925 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Arthur Valentine Sr. and Grace (Danford) Valentine. Mrs. Choma had worked at Cambridge Glass, RCA, and also A & J Cleaning. She was a 1943 graduate of Brown High School and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church for seventy years. She enjoyed life to the fullest and cherished spending time with her children & grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael K. Choma, who died in 1977. They were married May 22, 1945. Also deceased is a daughter, Julie Woodgeard; a brother, Charles Valentine; four sisters, Mabel Slay, Marion Powell, Eleanor Kushner, and Lela Bishard; and two infant sisters. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (& Bev) Choma of Cambridge and Michael (& Shawn) Choma of Cambridge; a daughter, Karen Baker (& Steve Kish) of Cambridge; a brother, Art (& Elva Jean) Valentine of Port Orange FL; ten grandchildren, Dawn (& Mike) Turner, Kendra (& Damon) Singleton, Amie (& Vic) Boyd, Andy (& Heather) Baker, Ali (& Leo) Chiques, Phillip Choma, Kylie (& Chris) Gebhart, Jordan Crist, Morgan Crist, and Nate Crist; and sixteen great-grandchildren, Sydney, Trey, and Jake Singleton, Max, Mason, and Murphy Boyd, Lexi, Drew, Dani, and Abigail Baker, Isabel and Manny Chiques, Carter and Laney Gebhart, Karlee and Camryn Gebhart. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Wednesday (March 13, 2013) at 1 p.m. with Rev. Keith Peachey officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
