Shirley Ann (Mcelroy) Hanes

Shirley Ann Hanes, 88, of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at her home.

Shirley was born on September 5, 1936, in Lore City, a daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Williams) McElroy.

Shirley was a member and past President of the Lioness Club, and enjoyed painting, gardening, and homemaking. She worked at the State Hospital as an Office Manager and Switch Operator. Shirley was a member of Christ's Lutheran Church in Cambridge.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Delno Hanes, who passed away on June 28, 2022, her daughter, Kimberly Hanes, her son, Delno Hanes Jr., two brothers, Andy McElroy and Elmer McElroy, and two sisters, Mary Slifko and Elmeda McElroy.

Shirley is survived by her son, Mark Hanes of Cambridge, her brother, Ken McElroy of California, her close niece, Darlene Slifko, and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
