Sophia Jean Harris, 45, of Cambridge and formerly of Columbus, passed away Sunday (August 22, 2010) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. She was born December 12, 1964 in Richland GA, daughter of James (Jack) Harris and Mary H. Hollis Harris. Sophia graduated from Cambridge High School in 1983. She was later employed at Lutheran Village Columbus until the onset of her illness. She was Baptist by faith. She is survived by her mother, Mary (Harris) Hart; a very special family friend and caregiver, Haywood Delcour; her father, James Harris; her step-mother, Fannie Harris; a host of caring family friends, Zack Robinson, Herbert Earley, Jeanette Fannin, Charlene Thomas, Cathy Baldwin, Amy Stillion and Beradet Powell; siblings, Christopher V. Harris, Michael A. Harris, Steven A. Harris and Cleola L. Earley; brother-in-law, Dave Distin Sr.; step-sister, Juanita Hamilton; step-brothers, Joseph, James and Victor Hamilton; maternal aunts, Juanita Hollis, Cleola Hollis and Bernice Muff; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Friday (August 27, 2010) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bob Hollins officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge.
